One of my favourite things to do is finding new artists and I’ve decided that it’s finally time to stop gatekeeping. This is the beginning of a new series where I’ll be introducing you to artists that I have discovered. I’ll talk about how I’ve found them, why their music resonates with me and why they should be your next favourite artist. Whether they are big or small, if they are on my playlist, you’ll find them here
The first artist of this series is Hillari, a singer-songwriter from Norway who started out by singing in her local church. Hillari describes her music as “For the soul” and any song of hers instantly proves that. Not only is she a talented artists, she is also an amazing performer. She has recently performed at some of Norways biggest festivals, and made appearances on BBC Radio, NRK and more.
I discovered Hillari through her song “Lose it All” and that first listen instantly made me want to take a dive into the rest of discography. Her songs are both clear and intentional which makes her music impactful. Her beautiful, unique sound mixed with her meaningful lyrics blend to create a sonically pleasing experience.

New Beginnings Review
Recently, Hillari released her EP New Beginnings. The songs are a reflection on emotion, growth, and personal development. New Beginnings gives us a 7 beautifully composed tracks that collectively created a soft and soulful atmosphere for the listener.
Stand out Tracks
Only God (with Ryan Ofei): As the opening track to New Beginnings, this song definitely is the emotion core of the album. It talks about having faith in God for through troubling times. It has a simple yet effective production style which leaves room for Hillaris soft and angelic vocals.
Control: This was one of the last songs on the EP. The song discusses the emotional pressure that comes with finally let go. It has definitely proven to be a fan favourite and its easy to see why. Hillaris vocals are delicate, yet confident, making the song a perfect anthem for having both reflection and resilience. It’s safe to say that this is definitely my summer song.
Hillari has quickly become one of my favourite artists and it’s clear she’s on the path to a truly successful career. She is one a few artists that has had the ability to connect with her audience through her music. If you’re not already listening to her, now is the perfect time to start.
