If you know me, you would know that I am no stranger to the work of Ariana Grande. I have been a non-stop fan of her since Victorious and since then have continued to love and support her throughout the years. Eternal Sunshine is one of my favourite albums of hers and I simply can’t express the excitement I felt when I found out she was releasing a deluxe album featuring 6 new songs. In this post I’m going to talk about my thoughts on Eternal Sunshine as well as my thoughts on Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead.
My thoughts on Eternal Sunshine
I’d like to start off by saying that I think Eternal Sunshine is one of Ariana’s best albums. I can admit that this may be a compelling statement, considering her amazing discography. Listening to Eternal Sunshine was such a healing experience for us all. Ariana has clearly stated herself that Eternal Sunshine is an emotionally vulnerable album, and that is a big part of what makes it such an outstanding experience to listen to. I had no doubt in my mind that the new tracks added in the deluxe album were going to be as, if not more, spectacular than the original songs.

My Review
I think it was interesting to see how she went about extending Intro (end of the world). It definitely wasn’t my favourite, but it also exceeded my expectations, in a good way. Aside from the original part of the track, I do think it could have been a completely different song from the original…6/10
Twilight zone was definitely one of my favourites. I really enjoyed listening to it, and I love the melody. The whole album already has a dreamscape/80s synth-wave feel to it, and Twilight zone was just simply an amazing addition to it…8/10
Warm was another one of my favourites. It has a very quirky feel to it, in my opinion, and I just can’t get enough of the chorus. The song is so obviously Ariana-coded in every way, and that just makes it all the better…9/10
I want everyone to know that I had already established Dandelion as my favorite when the song names were leaked. It reminds me a lot of True story and The boy is mine, so naturally, it fits perfectly with the rest of the album. I love everything about it. It’s my favourite. I love it…11/10
The arrangement of Past life genuinely is such art. It is such an experience to listen to and, in my opinion, was such a perfect addition. It almost acts as a resolution to the album and the overall story that is told throughout…10/10
Initially, when I saw that there was a song called Hampstead, I definitely didn’t expect it to be all that it is. Hampstead is one of, if not, the most heartfelt and emotionally raw songs on the album. It’s without a doubt such a beautiful track, and the vocal delivery mixed with the vintage-sounding piano makes it audibly satisfying. When I first listened to it, I found lines like, “Cause I think to be so dumb must be nice.” hilarious. Overall I think it is an amazing finishing piece for the album…9/10

Brighter days ahead: the short film
Along with the deluxe album, we were given Brighter Days Ahead. In this short film, we see Peaches, who we originally met in the music video for we can’t be friends (wait for your love), as she visits Brighter Days Inc. to remove the painful memories of an ex-loved one. As Peaches returns for what seems like her final time, she relives her last four memories. I think that this short film goes so perfectly with the rest of the album and ties the whole storyline together beautifully.
I loved every part of this short film and it made me feel so connected to album and the story of peaches. The performance of Eternal Sunshine was so mesmerising, followed by dandelion. Other songs in the film include, Intro(end of world), Supernatural, Hampstead and Twilight Zone. The ending included her father, Ed Butera, as he brought her back to life. Having her father revive and heal her was such a beautiful ending and it just further adds to the meaning of what eternal sunshine was really about.

What do you think ?!
